Reigniting the torch

Joy Reignited

Walking west it burns to touch
I see the flame what points the way
Countless walk or run as much
to see put out the light of day.

Forgotten things that still feel dear
We act as though we might yet yearn
For grander thoughts, the things we fear
Unspoken words since first we learned.

But as round two of this champion fight
Is left for those who’d judge the score
Recall round three is well in sight
A gift, a dream, an open door.

So don’t be scared don’t fret don’t fold
Don’t dare you give that voice a thought
For once it’s bought and slyly sold
Dreams released which once were sought.

was just pondering similarly….
nothing really ever lost with those yearnings….
as we brave chiseling away the have to’s and should’s and notions of supposed to’s….
grateful always for your insights ;)

Nothing lost so long as we dare to return, eager to apply to them all that we’ve learned on the detour that once led us away but, if we’re willing, finally brought us back. Unfortunately, it’s not simply a matter of choice. It’s not enough to say, “okay, time to return to the long-forgotten dreams that once helped me see the world as pregnant w/ possibilities”. No, the way back is not so simple. Possible, I think, but plenty to make the journey away look like a leisurely stroll in the park.
