Nothing for something

long tail of greed and selfishness

When we set out in search of something, and ask others if they might be it, it’s incumbent upon us to follow through, to live up to our end of that promise. Not doing so doesn’t just represent an individual failure, it erodes the foundation upon which our society sits. It creates and encourages disingenuousness, and it dismantles trust.

We have to think beyond our immediate impulse to under deliver and start living, and treating others, as though there’s something critical at stake. Because there is.

Greed and selfishness, often moonlighting as flippancy or simple disregard for others, have a very long tail, one that will surely be wagging in ways we never intended, well into the future.
